Players Pose for Photos in 10 Goal Romp

Ayr United took on South West team Whithorn in a Scottish Qualifying Cup 2nd round match at Somerset Park on 16th September 1911.

It was not a particularly good day out for Whithorn who found themselves 8-0 down at half time. The match was a total farce with United ending up as 10 goal winners. So onesided was the match that Ayr United goalkeeper, Lee Massey posed for photographs while the match was in progress, as indeed, did fellow team mates McKenzie and Gardner.
