During the war years raising money for charities and in particular service charities was commonplace. Ayr United had done their fair share of it, but nevertheless were involved in a match on 2nd January 1918 to raise money. 

The New Year friendly saw United beating the Royal Flying Corps by 4-2 in the year that heralded the end of the conflict..
