Exiles On Song
Ayr United took on a team of Polish exiles who had settled in Britain after the second world war. The match, played on 16th February 1946 was the first ever match at Somerset Park against a foreign team.
The 6-1 defeat for Ayr was somewhat surprising although United did have a number of trialists on show namely Woods at inside-right, Smith at Outside-left, (both of Lugar Boswell) and right-half Cameron from Dalry Thistle who played for the second have only.
No programme for this friendly was produced.
