Close Matches Against Ontario/Quebec
During Ayr United’s Canadian tour of June 1975 they played an Ontario/Quebec Select side on two occassions.
The first was in Montreal on 23rd June 1975 when United nearly slipped up in their close 3-2 win.
In fact the Select side produced a close match at the second time of asking when the sides met again in Sherbrooke two days later on 25th June 1975. The Canadian team reversed their name to Quebec/Ontario Select due to this second match being played in Quebec.
The final score was 2-0 to the Honestmen.
