Good Cup Wins at Motherwell

Ayr have not always found Fir Park, Motherwell a good place to be but they had a good 1st division win at Fir Park on 10th March 1973 by 2-1. 

The Premier league was in its second season when Ayr produced a 4-2 win on 22nd January 1977, (their only Premier league win at Motherwell), but both clubs were in the 1st division when Ayr next won on 13th October 1979 by 2-0. The Honest Men did not win again at Fir Park until a 3-2 league cup win on 12th August 1981. 

United also had a superb 2-0 win at Fir Park in a league cup 3rd round match on 18th September 1998.

An excellent recent victory occurred on 18th August 1998 when Ayr won a league cup match by 2-0, but their most notable win was the Scottish Cup triumph of 26th February when United came back from 3-1 down at half time to win 4-3.
