No Joy Against Mansfield

Scottish Premier league Ayr United put on an uninspiring show to slump to a 1-0 home defeat on 15th September 1975 at the hands of English third division side Mansfield Town in the Quarter Finals of the Anglo-Scottish Cup. This Monday evening fixture against the Stags was the first match between the two sides.

There followed a long trip down south for the second leg of the Anglo Scottish Cup tie. A 0-2 scoreline was bad enough against a Mansfield side (whose programme for the tie showed them sitting fifth from bottom of the third division with just 5 points from 8 games) but A miserable night for Ayr was completed by the sending off of Alex Ingram.

Programmes were issued for both matches.
