Dismal Win

United went to non league Lancaster City's Giant Axe on 6th August 1994 no doubt expecting an easy run out before the season began.

It was a dismal day and there was a dulness to match about Ayr's play, largely down to City's stuborness. Patterson eventually scored to give Ayr a not so memorable 1-0 win.

The real fun happened afterwards in the social club when the City staff played wonderful hosts to the large United following.
