Win For Slick Poles

Gwardia Warsaw’s arrival at Somerset Park on 15th March 1972 was a welcome break from the harsh realities of league football. If United thought that this would be a walk in the park they were wrong as the Poles were slick and methodical and showed why they had been involved in European comepetion in previous years.

The only surprise about the scoreline was that the Poles stopped at 2-0.
