Another Eight For Ayr
Corner Brook is a Canadian city of about 20,000 people located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Located on the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the Humber River, the city is the largest population centre in the province outside the Avalon Peninsula and functions as a service centre for western and northern Newfoundland.
The third match in United’s pre-season tour of Canada in 1975 was against Corner Brook. The superb hospitality provided by the Canadians did not blunt Ayr’s prowess and the match at Stephenville on 27th June 1975 ended in an 8-1 win win for the Scots.
