Victory for Wanderers at Ayr

Ayr United welcomed English Second Division side Bolton Wanderers to Somerset Park on 2nd August 1969, the first time the Lancashire team had played at Ayr.

The friendly match ended in a 2-1 win for Nat Lofthouse’s ‘Wanderers with Dick Malone scoring a late penalty for Ayr.

The match was significant for Ayr in the debut of Quinton ‘Cutty’ Young who had a scintillating match
