Arsenal Trouncing Inspires Ayr

Second division Ayr United played a glamour match against English giants Arsenal on 28th July 1987 at Somerset Park when Scottish manager George Graham brought his team north. The devastating 6-0 trouncing by the Londoners only heralded a successful championship winning year for United.

Ironically Ayr has just three days previously trounched non-league Annan 8-0.
