Apart from the rough and tumble of league campaigns Ayr United over the years have played many Scottish clubs who are and have always been non-league sides as well as some who were league sides but are now non league.

Ayr United have also played many clubs from England useually as friendly matches but on occassion in competitive matches through the Texaco Cup.  They have also been involved in many tours abroad playing foreign teams (alas as friendlies and not in European competition).
